The Godin Kingpin P90 single-coil pickup delivers all that classic, vintage tone with presence, clarity, and a little attitude thrown in for good measure. The silver leaf maple neck glues into the body at the 14th fret, the remaining neck portion sits (just) over the top of the body. The rounded cutaway is less Gibson and more acoustic-like, while the body is made from laminated wild cherry, tidily cream-bound back and front. Compared to other tonewoods, the cherry emphasizes the midrange frequencies of your tone. Essentially a 406mm (16- inch) wide archtop with a 76mm (three-inch) rim depth, it's very slightly smaller than the Gibson ES-125 on which it's clearly styled. There’s also a silver leaf maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The body utilizes Canadian cherry for the top, back and sides. From alt-country to Delta blues, slide and jazz to rock, the 5th Avenue can really deliver both acoustically and electrically. Godin’s 5th Avenue Kingpin marries that traditional archtop design with the clear, open sparkle of a P90 pickup.
